Assistant Superintendent Position
Olds Central Highlands GC is an Audubon Certified 18 Hole Championship GC located just east of Olds in Central Alberta. Olds was rated by Golf digest as one of the best places to play recently and hosts both the Alberta Golf Alberta Amateur and Open qualifiers every year. We are a very busy profitable golf course that has a history of long-term employees. We have recently finished phase I of our Master plan renovations designed by Puddicombe associates and are looking to move forward on the second phase in the next two years. Olds has a new turf care facility and maintains an excellent equipment fleet. Olds turf care department employees between 17-20 operators during peak season in a fun-working environment. Previous golf course experience of 2-3 years is an asset, as well managing staff in fast paced environments. If you’re looking to learn lots and have fun while doing it Olds is the place.
The successful applicant will assist the golf course superintendent in all aspects of the turf care program including:
Hiring, training and supervision of staff.
Implementation of all turf care schedules.
Maintenance of the irrigation system.
Ensuring proper application of fertilizers and pesticides.
Ensuring safe and responsible operation of golf course equipment.
The position requires the following experience, training, skills and abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, computer skills.
Valid Alberta Pesticide Applicator’s License, or ability to get it.
Knowledge of turfgrass management, fertilizer and pesticide application.
Experience in the safe and responsible operation of golf course equipment.
Ability to lead and motivate staff with a hard-working, hands-on approach
Experience in all aspects of operating and repairing an irrigation system.
The position is a 12-month position with competitive compensation package and bonus program.
